Unfiltered Audio

Haze

Haze presents a slow-moving exploration into the backrooms and hidden geometries of your sounds, expanding time into abstract chunks and mistransmitted fragments. Dive into the sonic canyons between your drum hits, magnify the false memories on your endless reverb tails, and turn your chords into walls of distorted granite.

A liquid audio buffer sits at the heart of Haze. It can repeat and dissect incoming audio in real-time with no latency. It can freeze a half minute in time and dance inside of it while the world wanders by. You have full control over how you want to set up your radio microscope.

Multimodal Exploration

Once you have found a landscape worth exploring, Haze offers three separate modes of temporal expansion. Tape Mode simulates everyone's favorite lossful reel of magnetic wonder. As time slows down, the pitch drops as well, while tape hiss and the process of oxidation frame it. Granular Mode splits the sound into particles, each able to preserve the input's original pitch and timbre, or warp it across the stereo field into a spray of backmasked birdsong. Finally, Spectral Mode finds harmony or dissonance where it never existed, turning control over every frequency into simple gestures and whims.

Haze doubles as an expedition journal. Frozen audio buffers can be exported as audio files for perusing elsewhere, or logged with projects and presets to share with others. Haze includes many pages from our own dog-eared journals, written slowly alongside a year of thoughtful exploration with this mysterious device.

Trip Companions

Many Unfiltered Audio classics are here: a plugin-wide Sample Rate control for when the lab is too sterile, a Press knob to blow out the amplitudes into an impressionist texture, hand-crafted color themes (including the addition of our new Theme Importer), full plugin randomization with safety locks, and more. Enjoy your travels.

System Requirements

A modern Mac or Windows computer and a DAW. That's basically it.

We support older operating systems as far back as we reasonably can, since we value longevity and not breaking things needlessly, however the further back you go, the less likely things are to work. As of 2026, we have Mac users running our plugins on OSX Mojave (2018), but that's about as far back as we'd recommend. As a general rule, figure on roughly the last five years of Mac or Windows.

Our Mac plugins run natively on Apple Silicon as well as Intel Macs, so there's no need to worry about Rosetta or other compatibility layers.

Generally speaking, if you have a relatively modern, relatively normal computer running almost any DAW, our plugins should work. This website in your browser is probably harder to run than a lot of our plugins.

But if you're worried about compatibility, please try the demo first.
